Default Now this is different!

A 10,000 year clock. Under a mountain in Texas.

http://longnow.org/clock/

"There is a Clock ringing deep inside a mountain. It is a huge Clock, hundreds of feet tall, designed to tick for 10,000 years. Every once in a while the bells of this buried Clock play a melody. Each time the chimes ring, it’s a melody the Clock has never played before. The Clock’s chimes have been programmed to not repeat themselves for 10,000 years. Most times the Clock rings when a visitor has wound it, but the Clock hoards energy from a different source and occasionally it will ring itself when no one is around to hear it. It’s anyone’s guess how many beautiful songs will never be heard over the Clock’s 10 millennial lifespan."

Long read, but interesting. I'm not sure what it's actually good for, but it's going to be there for a while, so I suppose someone will figure it out some day.

Texas has everything. Ask any Texan, and they'll tell you. And tell you, and tell you.......

Wonder what they will make of that 10,000 years from now?

Wonder what was buried 10,000 years ago that we have yet to find or if we would recognize it if we did?

I always wondered if Texas was so great, WHY are all the camping spots here in Arkansas always full of Texans? Is it because we actually have camping areas with lakes and rivers.....WATER?

I've always heard that Arkansas was a beautiful place. Never have had the pleasure to see for myself.

Parts are beautiful. some parts are just plain ugly, just like most other states. I remember seeing where the Pecos and Rio Grande come together-impressive. Of all the places I've been, my vote would have to go to eastern Tennessee and parts of North Carolina. Breathtaking scenery!
