...but they are going to continue to block the 600,000 plus M1 Carbines because they accept a large capacity magazine.

I own Springfied Armory, Winchester and HRA Garands. I'm glad more are being imported.
Values on all Garands will not be affected much. This batch is not going to the CMP (they receive theirs only from U.S. government entities), but is being imported by companies interested in a nice, capitalist profit. It's just my guess, but I imagine retail prices on the import-marked Garands will be more or less equivalent to what the CMP is asking. What WILL affect Garand pricing in the future will be the supply of M2 ball milsurp ammunition. Yes, I'm aware of the adjustable gas plug, but the cheap supply of milsurp ammunition is dwindling. Unless the Greeks decide to fund their Euro bailout on HXP Pyrkal or the Koreans release massive war stocks, the shootability of Garands will drive the market value down. I don't think anyone is currently manufacturing .30-'06 to M2 ball spec right now. I could be wrong on that...and I would be GLAD to be in error! The last large of M1 Carbines (combined Italian/Austrian lot) was 'huge' compared to what was on the open market in years past. Instead of driving prices down, the increased interest eventually moved prices up a bit from years gone by. Just my 2 centavos worth! YMMV.

C'mon, that's not the only reason. They can be made to run FA with no receiver mods, just parts. That and 30 rds mags is the problem.
