Default Thinking of a Spanish Mauser:

The 7mm one sold J&G sales. I think they'd make a good a deer rifle, and I do love those stripper clips, too. Opinions?

Everything I've seen says that the 7mm ones are decent. The 7mm ones that they converted to .308 had problems, but that was because they had to shove a larger bullet out of the same receiver at the same velocity, and they reamed it out to fit the cartridge.

I wouldn't be afraid of one in the original 7mm, although I wouldn't touch one of the .308 ones. Those are in the category of "You go ahead. I'll stand over here behind this post and watch."
