So are you saying Century Arms makes less reliable AK47s or more reliable AK47s?

I hate to say it but aside from the Century Tantal build fiasco(5.45 chamber, but a 5.56 bore size)and the very bad metallurgy in earlier production RAS 47's(I don't know if they've fixed those issues since 2016)and BCG on the C39V2's they actually DO have a (slightly) better record. Their Hungarian builds(AK63D and AK63 DS)as well as an AKMS build they had are a bit better than" good for the money". Same as their Bulgarian AK74 builds and their old M70AB2.. the VZ2008 as well..but I honestly don't know if they were built in house or contracted out. Still, good to very good.
I O,OTOH;did better as importers vs builders(same as Century).. unlike Century, their AK builds are consistently VERY bad..cast front trunnions without real heat treating. Rivets backing out. Rifles that require an afterthought of a buffer at the rear of the BCG.. many recorded incidents of failure on durability, but IO seems determined to sell a bad quality product.

And the Century Israeli Golani rifle build fiasco, not including the firing pin replacement. I thought Century could not muck up a Kalashnikov series rifle but they did. They intentionally sized the rifle to use a worn mag that they included with the rifle but normal mags I was not able to get to fit and if they did fit they often did not feed correctly until I sent it back for the firing pin fix.

I didn't know they hadn't corrected the Golani issues..my other beef with Century-especially in the ongoing Russian sanctions is their Exclusive Importer Agreement with ROMARM/Cugir:the recent/current production WASR10 rifles and Draco pistols are great.. but harder to come by...and SURPRISE!: Century now has a " Century Built Draco"-which gets me thinking" a bunch of their sales tards had them do a run of RAS47 pistols"... They keep control of and restrict the availability of decent quality affordable imports, while funneling the market towards their overpriced/underbuilt substandard lemon.
At least James River Armory and a few others are starting to do good builds(like Atlantic with the Polish builds).
I wish I would go back to just importing . And that Century would bring in more Romanian stuff. Or SOMEONE would get a massive import order of forged Polish front trunnions and other sundries

The only gun I know of that IO did import that I liked and worked, (as best I can tell from the net) was the Archer. No mags for it though so it bombed!

The Archer was excellent. They also imported the Radom/Fabrika Brony PPS43C pistol builds in 7.62x25 and 9x19.. I have a 7.62x25 version(which , apparently;is the one that works well without needing to be tweaked). Ever since they started building, its been a $hit show.

AKs are a simple design. The problem is this: at LEAST a couple of US builders see the reduced imports as an opportunity to make a profit. I have no issue with that. I DO have issues with someone thinking they can make 5 years profit in six months...and do so by regarding VERY basic and important standards and production steps as " unnecessary"... And thinking so little of their target customers that they assume none of them have any prior hands on experience with the real thing...or the ability to read...or learn.
