Default When you die, whats going to happen to your stuff?

I never worried about things like this and always lived out of debt so nobody would file against my life or loved ones. Now that the time is close it has crossed my mind more than once.

To me I have no control, but leave all my stuff to my wife and kids. I hope they are able to use it for their own protection and future needs.

I am kind of bothered because while I was organized, there is so much of it and I don't want them to be burdened with it and would hate the idea they might argue over it.

I trust my family but worry about what the Governemnt may do

I never worry about it, but I do think about it from time to time.

I have no family of my own so there is no one who would need what I leave behind, but I trust the ones I love to make use of what's useful and discard the rest.

Designated to family members.

One thing that bothered all of my family when my father passed was,
he did not speak much of his wishes concerning his things, and he did not set aside money for my mother or my mentally challenged brother, or his own funeral...............................he had over 40 years to plan for my brothers survival and he never opened an I.R.A. or anything for him.......

Be sure to set aside money for the funeral home expenses and MAKE A VIDEO TAPE TO ALL OF YOUR LOVED ONES YOUR WISHES & TELL THE STORIES ON VIDEO THAT NEED TO BE TOLD TO CARRY ON YOUR LEGACY!!

See you on the other side one day Sir with JESUS take note and look me up then.

That's about the way of it. If you are old enough to realize that you aren't going to live forever, you should have a list.

"Who gets What".

That, of course, assumes that you have anything that you give a flop about. The funds are for my wife, assuming she survives me. Otherwise that gets divided up among the kids and grandkids.

The toys, OTOH? They all have names on them. But you got to do that thing, unless you want your wife selling it off for a dime on the dollar because she knows nothing about what any of it is worth.

If I go rogue, it'll probably all be confiscated by the boys in blue. I don't see them giving it back to my family when I'm gone. Otherwise I figure most all of it can be sold if they can figure out where to sell it.

Kid isnt interested and no wife so - some things will got to a few specified museums, IF they are willing to abide by the display requirements. If not sold off. A nephew who I've gotten into guns and military reliks will get a bunch of stuff. A few friends, if still around, will get some things. The rest will be sold and the $$$ contributed to a few favorite organizations. Already have a couple of knowlegable friends who will take care of all this.
But I'm not planning on leaving for another 20 yrs!

Our wives, kids, and relatives are probably going to fight over our estates, no matter what you do or say. My late father had a will, and a trust set up far in advance. The day my father died, my step mother (his third wife) was breaking open his locked file cabinet with a letter opener. She filed a lawsuit against me before the man was even in the ground. Then she invited my half sister, and two half brothers to also sue me, just out of spite. I got physically attacked by my own family. My stepmother's brother threatened to kill me. Three years in probate court, and $130,000 in legal bills to two different law firms, and there was nothing left to fight about. And that was my father's legacy.....

Lawyers make the big bucks not making wills and trusts. They cash in on "Trust Maintenance." Legal jargon for defending the will and trust from lawsuits filed by greedy relatives.

Keep in mind, the famous Armand Hammer Trust was broken by lawsuits.

The only advise I can give you is that if you want a particular item like a car or baseball card collection to go to a particular favorite nephew or whatever, you may be wise to quietly transfer the item to that person while you are still alive and healthy.

Keep in mind, just because you think something is cool and collectible, your children may reach a period of their lives when paying medical bills, getting together a down payment for a house, financing a dream vacation, or college tuition seems much more cool.

Good advice. I've already donated several of my toys to friends (no advertising the fact), my family thats left doesn't know one gun from another so other than what they could sell 'em for they don't care about them at all.

I want to go out with a bang so I'll have my ammo stash burned with me.

My ammo/Guns/ militaria/land/personal things are all gonna be divided amongst my kids. No problem.
I am marking each weapon as to type/ammo used and least price taken.

They may choose to keep all and shoot the ammo for many years to come.

They may keep some and a goodly ammount of ammo. Or they may sell it all at a gain.

Then...cremate my useless hide at Government expense.

Load me into guns and wait for TSHTF where I'll do them proud.

My kid is to have the pick of my stuff (probably a LOT more value in tools than firearms) and then let my wife sell the rest. I am sure he will ad most of it to his fast growing pile.

I have a little list of specific things to go to specific people, all the other stuff , well.....I'm sure the wife will dump it quick at one of the two gun dealers I go to.
