Anyone else notice that there were several pics of LEO's still using the old Mini-14 out there>>> I thought that they had long since retired those ole war horses for the AR. Guess it still has a place somewhere>>>> LOL!

If you saw Mini-14s, that must have been 'The A-Team' in disguise.
Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean that they're not out to get you!

Inside a couple hundred yards I'd about as soon be using a Mini as anything in 5.56. My new model, while not quite as light and handy as the original models, will hold it own with any other 5.56 in a knock down in your face shoot 'em up. I actually shoot the regular Mini 14 with its regular stock when shooting fast than an AR-15

You always see pics of French cops with them, but they probably bought them in the 80s and never fired them, like the eclectic mix of sub machine guns that they have. I was looking at Minis tonight at the grocery store (only in Alaska). I wouldn't mind having one.

Those French Mini's are a different sort of Mini for sure. Odd charging handles and they are made or were made there under license if I remember right.....

I have mini and I do Love it! Bare bones and all! Its the more updated model if that matters.

mine is an older 188 series rifle, and I would not feel at a disadvantage in any sort of fight.

The State of California had bought them in large numbers in the 1980s. At one time they were the standard issue rifle for the CHP, Prisons and several local law enforcement agencies. The issue when MP5s were first being issued was that the more hard core gangsters placed a high black market value on hijacked Mp5s, much less on Mini-14s. The stainless steel models could go long periods of time with little or no maintenance as long as they were not fired, which was infrequently. There are not a lot of choices out there when it comes to stainless steel semiauto rifles.
