  • AK-74 Ammo

Another question now about (cheap- relatively) ammo. Any comments about which of these seem to be the most reliable and accurate?

    Wolf
    Silver Bear
    Tula
    Red Army

Or suggestions other than these? Thanks again for your help.

I have had a preference for the Wolf and the Bear;tied with Golden Tiger in other rifle and pistol calibers(7.62x39) but I have no idea if they make 5.45.

I believe all four you mentioned now come from the Ukraine, if you can find it the most accurate was made in Ulyanovsk, with a 60 grain fmj. However, the ak74 should shoot all available ammo about the same.

Russian milsurp in the spam cans runs well and will wring everything out of the rifle that it is manufactured to perform at.

Of the currently available commercial stuff, this has been more consistent than anything else for me. How it compares to Russian surplus I'm not sure, I settled on Golden Tiger when Barnaul became harder to find,

Go with wolf as a training round, Milsurp as fighting.
