They lost my interest real quick with their "TACTICAL" comments. What the velocity of a .308 chopped to 12 inches? I'd think an AK would serve as well....

Probably right close to 7.62x39mm velocity. And the most common AK mags hold 30 rounds, not twenty.

Yeah, I had a chance to buy one of those chopped down Vollmer HK-91s rigged up in roughly the size of an MP5. A really absurd gun that wasted half the powder charge out in front of the gun.
The POF is arguably a bit nicer and maybe tamer on recoil, but the modern fashion of super short carbines in regular rifle calibers sort of defeats the purpose of a lot of that. I would be more impressed if they just did something in 10mm that takes the same mags as the late 1980s FBI upgrades to the Mp5 and then someone could put those mags back into production. Olympic arms did have a 10mm AR at one point, but there were issues of whether or not the system was beefy enough to run on an unlocked blowback action with full power 10mm ammo. Thing about the .308 AR platform is you have more bolt carrier diameter area to play with, therefore can run a beefier bolt, sort of like scaling up the whole Colt 9mm design to 10mm. Then I would be impressed.
